Abstract

The growth in sales of fine fireclay sanitaryware is driven partly by consumers of who are becoming more demanding in their taste and who want to convert their bathrooms into true lifestyle areas, pushing designers to invent evermore complex modern designs. The growth is also driven partly by sanitaryware producers who more and more see the technical edge that fine fire clay provides: reduced wet and dry stage shrinkage versus vitreous china, the possibility to cast bigger pieces in smaller batches, and to respond rapidly to changes in fashion.

Imerys Sanitaryware has been conducting an intensive research and development effort to accompany this growth trend and to develop the "ideal" fine fire clay body formulation.
