Community Relations: Engage to Make A Difference

April is considered the National Volunteer Month across the United States. This month is dedicated to honoring all of the volunteers in their communities as well as encouraging volunteerism throughout the month. Through Imerys Ceramics US focused approach, six of our locations volunteered to make a difference:

1 - Crenshaw plant, Mississippi: Local Community Center rehabilitation

-          Cleaning and painting of a building that will be used as a local Community Center;

-          Imerys Ceramics US also supplied food to help feed the other community volunteers during the event.

2 - Gleason plant, Tennessee: “Back Pack” Program

-          “Back Pack” Program to help alleviate hunger in Weakley County by providing hungry children with nutritious and easy to prepare food at times when other resources are not available.

-          Our employees volunteered their time by packing food donations that were delivered to the families in the program.

-          This program began in 2011 and reaches over 200 children.

3 - Langley plant, South Carolina: Arbor Day Community Service Project

-          Ten of our employees planted pink dogwood trees and pink kwanzan flowering cherry trees at the Sassafras Park in Burnettown, South Carolina, in presence of the Mayor.

4 - Sandersville plant, Georgia: “Shape Up Waco” event

-        This event includes a 5K and 1 Mile fun run as well as booths set up to teach children about healthy eating and how to live a healthy lifestyle.

-          Imerys had eleven employees from the Sandersville Plant participate, helping direct traffic to actually running in the 5K.

5 - Mexico plant: “Imperio de Amor” orphanage Toy Drive, Juarez, Nuevo Leon

-          Our Plant donated 3,000 (mxn) worth of board games, toys and soccer balls plus donations received by our employees.

-          This orphanage has sixty children, ages three to fifteen.

6 - Roswell office, Georgia: City of Alpharetta’s Park & Recreational Center trees collection showcase

- Corporate team and some of their family members helped showcase a collection of trees assembled and maintained for education, research and enjoyment for the surrounding communities at Wills Park, a 110 acre multi-use park near the downtown center of Alpharetta.
